My 6 Favorite 90s and 2000s Bands
This is a list of my favorite bands/singers that were prominent, became prominent, or stayed prominent in the 1990s and/or 2000s. My favorite albums are in parenthesis.
6. Ben Folds
(Over The Hedge, 2007)
Before going it alone, Ben Folds was the pianist and frontman of the Ben Folds Five. Ben Folds did the soundtrack for Over The Hedge (2007) and contributed to the diverse soundtrack of Hoodwinked! (2005), two of my favorite movies.
5. Nirvana
(Nevermind, 1991)
Kurt Cobain, lead and guitar, and Krist Novoselic, bass, founded Nirvana in 1987.
4. Red Hot Chili Peppers
(Californication, 1999)
Red Hot Chili Peppers was originally formed in Los Angeles, CA in 1983. It has had many members over it's 35+ year history, but it's current members include Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and Josh Klinghoffer.
3. Smash Mouth
(Astro Lounge, 1999)
Smash Mouth, formed in San Jose, CA in 1994, features Steve Harwell, Paul De Lisle, Randy Cooke, Sam Figen, and Michael Klooster.
2. Bruno Mars
(24k Magic, 2016)
Bruno Mars was born in Hawaii in 1985. He's evidence that not all of my hope is lost for modern music. He's a very diverse artist, he's dabbled in Pop, Soul, R&B, and even New Jack Swing!
1. Gorillaz
(Gorillaz, 2001)
Gorillaz features four cartoon band members laying some bitchin' alternative on ya!
The members include 2-D, Murdoc, Russel, Noodle, and Ace. Gorillaz was formed in Essex, England, in 1998. They are a great example of a successful band with little change. It is possible.
